According to him, the congress was peaceful and democratic, with elected officials emerging through a consensus arrangement unanimously adopted by party members.
“Prior to the elections, delegates and aspirants were painstakingly accredited and screened, with an INEC official present to witness the congress.
“The party adopted a consensus arrangement unanimously agreed upon by members,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected chairman, John Chigozie Ekeogu, assured members that he would work closely with other executive members to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ekeogu commended the party for conducting what he described as a credible exercise and urged members to remain loyal and avoid anti-party activities.
He expressed confidence that the SDP was well-positioned to record victory in the 2027 elections.
