The Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is set to screen former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday as the party’s lone presidential aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to reports, those listed to screen Jonathan include former Vice-President Namadi Sambo, former Plateau State governor Jonah Jang, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tom Ikimi, among others.
Recall that the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, disclosed last week that Jonathan had successfully registered as a member of the PDP during the fresh digital registration exercise directed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The Seyi Makinde-backed PDP also announced plans to screen 748 House of Representatives aspirants, 198 senatorial aspirants and 112 governorship aspirants.
The party added that its screening committee would also screen 2,122 aspirants for State Houses of Assembly seats across the country.
According to the party, the screening exercise for the various categories of aspirants will commence on Tuesday in different states.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Sunday, the party disclosed that one presidential aspirant would also appear before the screening committee.
“The screening exercise will take place nationwide on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 10:00,” the statement read.
