Three members of the House of Representatives have defected from their respective political parties to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, announced the defections during plenary after reading letters submitted by the lawmakers.
Among the defectors is Shehu Dalhatu, who represents Faskari/Kankara/Sabuwa Federal Constituency of Katsina State. Dalhatu left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the PDP.

In his letter, Dalhatu said his decision followed careful consideration of developments within the APC and consultations with his constituents.
Also, Etanabene Benedict, representing a constituency in Delta State, defected from the Labour Party to the PDP, citing the lingering crisis within the Labour Party in the state.
Similarly, Alex Egbona, representing Yakurr/Abi Federal Constituency of Cross River State, dumped the APC for the PDP.
Egbona, however, assured his constituents that his commitment to effective representation and legislative duties remained unwavering despite the change in party affiliation.
The latest defections come amid continued political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development follows the recent defection of six PDP members of the House of Representatives from Oyo State to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), a move that further highlights the ongoing shifts within Nigeria’s political landscape.
