A support group of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the Grassroots Mobilization Network (GMN), has expressed concerns over ongoing legal disputes involving the party, urging the judiciary to uphold fairness, due process, and the rule of law.
Speaking in Abuja on Saturday, the group’s spokesperson, Peter Emeka, called on all stakeholders to work towards protecting democratic institutions and strengthening public confidence in the electoral process.
Emeka alleged that efforts were being made to undermine opposition participation in future elections, while urging the courts to remain impartial in handling political cases.

“The ruling party doesn’t want anyone on the ballot,” he alleged.
He further appealed to judicial officers presiding over political matters to act in accordance with the law and ensure that their decisions promote public trust in the judiciary.
According to him, court rulings on politically sensitive issues often attract significant public attention and should be guided by the principles of justice, fairness, and constitutional order.
Emeka also argued that matters relating to party leadership and internal affairs should be resolved in line with existing legal precedents and established judicial pronouncements.
He noted that the legal proceedings involving the ADC and Nafiu Bala had generated considerable interest among party members and political observers.
The ADC and Bala have been involved in a leadership dispute, with several cases currently pending before different courts.
One of the cases is expected to come up for hearing in the coming days.
The group maintained that adherence to due process and respect for judicial independence remain essential to preserving democratic stability and public confidence in the nation’s political institutions.
