A group within the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu, GMT, has condemned the protest over the party’s purported list of candidates for the National Assembly elections.
The group also criticised the involvement of cabinet members and government officials in the protest, describing their actions as an affront to the leadership of the party.

The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, had, in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, forwarded what the party described as its “final position” on the affected constituencies after considering the reports of the primary election appeal committees.
The review resulted in significant changes, with the party replacing two of its three senatorial candidates and six House of Representatives candidates affected by the appeals.
According to GMT, the National Working Committee’s, NWC, decision on the outcome of the primaries in Ondo State reflects the party’s commitment to justice, internal democracy and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
In a statement signed by its Director-General, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, the group congratulated all successful candidates who emerged from the APC National Assembly nomination process in the state.
The group said the NWC had consistently demonstrated fairness, courage and impartiality in resolving post-primary disputes within the party.
GMT also condemned the conduct of some Ondo State Government appointees, led by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Seun Osamaye, over the controversy surrounding the candidates’ list.
“We call on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to caution his appointees and ensure that all government officials respect the decisions and supremacy of our great party in the interest of peace and discipline,” the statement said.
