Veteran Nigerian singer and guitarist GT Da Guitarman has said that the formula for succeeding in the music industry has changed over the years. He recently had his say during an interview on Conversations with Kenni, and fans have been reacting.
Emphasizing that today’s artistes require a different approach to achieve success compared to previous generations, GT urged singers to embrace new realities and leverage digital tools to build their careers.

He added that technological advancements have made it easier for musicians to create, distribute and promote their work.
His words, “What is required to succeed as an artiste in 2026 is not the same thing required back in the day.A lot of artistes need to rewire their minds to understand that their phone now commands a lot of authority.
Being signed on the same label with people like Darey Art Alade, Jazzman Olofin, Sasha P, Ikechukwu, Naeto C and General Pype, I can talk about all of them and it won’t be enough. These are really amazing guys.
I think it’s easier to do music today than it was back then.
I always console myself with the fact that even in the days of Jesus there were poor people. If you find yourself poor in 2026, do something about that. Let’s stop blaming the government.”
