Imo APP declares readiness for 2027 polls, condemns alleged attack on secretariat

The Imo State chapter of the Action Peoples Party, APP, has declared its readiness to participate in the 2027 general elections, saying it has fielded candidates for all elective positions in the state.

The state chairman of the party, Ernest Njesi, made the declaration during a media chat with journalists in Owerri, expressing confidence that the APP would record a successful outing in the elections.

Njesi disclosed that the party had completed the registration of its candidates with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and was fully prepared for the polls.

According to him, the party has presented three senatorial candidates, 10 House of Representatives candidates, and 27 candidates for the Imo State House of Assembly.

“We have presented before INEC three senatorial candidates, 10 House of Representatives candidates, and 27 candidates for the State House of Assembly, and they have all been approved to participate in the 2027 electoral contest,” he said.

The APP chairman said the party would continue its grassroots mobilisation across communities in the state to educate voters on its programmes and encourage them to support its candidates.

Njesi also condemned the alleged attack on the party’s secretariat and the destruction of its billboards, accusing political opponents of being responsible for the incidents.

He, however, insisted that the alleged intimidation would not deter the APP from participating in the forthcoming elections.

The party chairman urged other political parties to focus on presenting their manifestoes to the electorate instead of engaging in acts of political violence.
