Osun: ADC accuses Federal Government of using institutions against opposition

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Federal Government of allegedly using state institutions to weaken opposition parties and influence the political landscape in Osun State ahead of the governorship election.

The opposition party raised the allegation while reacting to recent developments involving government agencies and political activities in the state.

ADC expressed concern over what it described as the increasing involvement of state institutions in matters it believes should be handled independently and without political considerations.

The party alleged that actions by some government agencies could undermine opposition activities and create an uneven playing field ahead of the election.

ADC called on relevant institutions to remain neutral and discharge their responsibilities in accordance with the law, stressing that government agencies should not be used to pursue political interests.

The party also urged the Federal Government to respect democratic principles and allow all political parties and candidates to participate freely in the electoral process.

It warned that the perceived politicisation of state institutions could erode public confidence in the election and weaken Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

ADC further appealed to security and electoral authorities to ensure fairness, transparency and equal treatment of all parties before, during and after the Osun governorship election.
