A former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, Sam Amadi, has said former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi stands a stronger chance of defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election than former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Amadi said Obi’s political appeal and growing support among Nigerians could give him an advantage in the presidential contest.
He argued that Obi had built a strong political movement, particularly among young Nigerians and voters seeking an alternative to the established political parties.
According to him, the former Anambra governor could present a more formidable challenge to Tinubu if opposition forces unite behind his candidacy.
Amadi also stressed the importance of political strategy and coalition-building ahead of the 2027 election.
He said the ability of opposition politicians to overcome their differences and rally around a single candidate would be critical to their chances of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
The comments come amid ongoing negotiations and political realignments among opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
