Leandro Paredes has broken his silence regarding the heavy disciplinary sanctions handed down by FIFA. This comes following the chaotic conclusion to the World Cup final, which saw Spain secure a 1-0 victory in extra time thanks to a goal from Ferran Torres.
Reacting to being hit with a 10-game ban for his role in the post-match altercations, Paredes expressed his disbelief at the severity of the punishment, stressing that it feels exaggerated.

The midfielder added that he doesn’t understand how Gavi received only a one-match ban despite punching him in the chest.
His words, “It seems exaggerated. The strange thing is also that Gavi was given one, who is the one who gives me the punch in the chest… but hey, that’s it. Now we have to appeal the sanction, the people who know about these things will see if they can overturn it. For me, it’s excessive, and I think it can be reduced.”
