APM Demands Probe into Alleged Blockage of Peter Obi’s Convoy in Benue

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has called for an investigation into the alleged blockage of the convoy of Peter Obi during his visit to Benue State.

The party described the reported incident as disturbing and urged relevant authorities to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged obstruction.

APM said political leaders and candidates should be allowed to move freely and conduct legitimate political activities across the country without intimidation or interference.

The party maintained that any attempt to prevent a political candidate from engaging with citizens could undermine democratic principles and citizens’ right to participate in the political process.

It called on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and make their findings public to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The APM also urged political actors and their supporters to respect the rights of opposition figures and allow different parties and candidates to campaign peacefully ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party stressed that political disagreements should be addressed through lawful and democratic channels rather than confrontation.

It further called on authorities to ensure adequate security for political candidates during campaigns and other public engagements.

The demand for an investigation comes amid growing political activities and heightened tensions ahead of the 2027 elections, with stakeholders increasingly calling for a peaceful and level playing field for all political parties and candidates.
