Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele has opened up about his desire to retain football’s ultimate individual prize. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
Stressing that he believes the prestigious award will remain at the Parc des Princes in the coming months, Dembele stated that winning it changed his life and the way he sees football.
The Frenchman added that despite his elevated fame, he’ll continue to work hard to keep his feet on the ground.
His words, “I’ve entered an ultra-exclusive family with incredible players.
People recognise you as a Ballon d’Or winner as soon as you’re in the street, or go to a restaurant. People talk to you about this trophy. That’s what changes.
Whatever happens, I want to remain the same person, not forget where I come from, not forget that all my team-mates obviously helped me to perform so well.
It is going to stay in the hands of a PSG player. I’m a competitor, so it’s my goal to win it again. But, as I said, I’m not making it an obsession either.
We tell ourselves that this year, it’s going to be difficult, that the Ballon d’Or is undecided, but we’ll see.”
