The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded the modified logo of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on its official website and updated the party’s leadership details.
The commission listed Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe as the National Chairman of the NDC, while Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu was listed as the National Secretary.
John Odey was also listed as the National Treasurer, Mainasara Abubakar Sani as National Financial Secretary, and Reuben Egwuaba as National Legal Adviser.
INEC indicated that the five leadership positions were updated “by court order,” while the commission’s platform also recognised the NDC’s modified logo pursuant to the judicial directive.
The development followed a judgment delivered by Justice J.O. Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja on September 8, 2026, in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1814/2026.
The case arose from a dispute between the NDC and INEC over the party’s modified logo and colour design, which was adopted at the party’s first National Executive Committee meeting on March 25, 2026.
The NDC had challenged INEC’s refusal to recognise and upload the modified design after the commission initially uploaded it and later reverted to the old logo associated with the organisation under which the party was originally registered.
Justice Abdulmalik ruled in favour of the NDC, holding that INEC’s refusal to recognise the modified logo was unconstitutional and illegal and amounted to an infringement of the party’s rights.
The court consequently directed INEC to recognise and use the modified logo, including its symbol and colours, for the party’s activities and participation in elections conducted by the commission.
The modified logo features a digitally designed two-finger victory sign against a blue background, with the acronym NDC displayed in red. The court also restrained INEC and its officials from interfering with the party’s use of the approved design.
The latest update brings INEC’s records in line with the court’s judgment and formally reflects the NDC’s approved identity and leadership structure on the commission’s platform as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
