2027: Atiku Vows to Challenge Tinubu Over Economic Hardship

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has vowed to continue challenging President Bola Tinubu over what he described as the growing poverty and hardship faced by Nigerians under the current administration.

Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the 2027 election, made the statement while criticising the economic policies of the Tinubu administration.

He said he would continue to draw attention to the condition of Nigerians and question government policies that he believes have worsened the living conditions of citizens.

Atiku argued that the government should prioritise policies capable of improving the purchasing power and welfare of Nigerians rather than measures that increase the burden on households.

The former vice president said his criticism of the administration was part of his political responsibility as an opposition figure and presidential candidate.

He maintained that Nigerians were entitled to demand accountability from those in government and assess the impact of their policies on the economy and living standards.

Atiku has repeatedly criticised the Tinubu administration over inflation, unemployment, poverty and other economic challenges, while the Federal Government has maintained that its reforms are necessary to reposition the economy and create conditions for sustainable growth.

The ADC candidate also said he would continue to engage with Nigerians and present his alternative policy proposals ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

His remarks come amid intensified political activities and growing debate over the performance of the Tinubu administration as political parties and presidential candidates prepare for the 2027 polls.
