2027: Atiku Urges Rival ADC Factions in Jigawa to Withdraw Court Cases

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has appealed to rival factions of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Jigawa State to withdraw their court cases and resolve their differences through dialogue.

Atiku made the appeal during a visit to Jigawa State as part of consultations and engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former Vice President urged the opposing groups to put aside their differences and work together in the interest of the party and its supporters.

He said prolonged legal disputes could weaken the party’s structure and distract its members from preparations for the forthcoming elections.

Atiku called on the factions to embrace reconciliation and strengthen the party at the grassroots, stressing that unity would be necessary for the ADC to effectively mobilise voters.

The former Vice President also urged party leaders and members to prioritise the interests of the ADC over individual ambitions.

He said political disagreements were normal within political organisations but should not be allowed to undermine the overall objectives of a party.

The appeal comes amid an internal dispute involving different groups within the ADC in Jigawa State, with the disagreement resulting in legal actions before the courts.

Atiku said the disputes could be resolved through negotiations and compromise rather than prolonged litigation, urging the parties involved to consider the wider implications of the crisis.

He also encouraged members of the party to remain committed to democratic principles and avoid actions that could further deepen divisions within its ranks.

The former Vice President’s intervention comes as opposition parties intensify efforts to build structures and resolve internal disputes ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The ADC has been involved in broader opposition realignments ahead of the polls, making the resolution of internal disagreements increasingly important to its state-level organisation and campaign preparations.
