Popular street-pop artiste Slimcase has decried the high cost of music promotion in Nigeria. He recently had his say during a recent interview on Echo Room, and fans have been reacting.
Noting that $200,000 isn’t enough to properly push a single song anymore, Slimcase revealed that it has become almost impossible for up-and-coming artistes to break into the Nigerian music industry.

Blaming the rise of influencer culture for the reduction of new artists, Slimcase added that dancers and content creators who used to flood artistes’ DMs for songs now demand huge fees to use the music in their content.
His words, “Back then dancers were begging artistes. Now you have to pay them big money, even content creators. $200,000 is not enough to blow a song now.
That is why you hear the same artist and sound for over 20 years, while many upcoming artists remain unheard.”
