The African Democratic Congress, ADC, vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, has warned President Bola Tinubu against attempting to manipulate the outcome of the 2027 presidential election.
Amaechi issued the warning during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he spoke about the political and economic situation in the country.

The former Rivers State governor said Nigerians were experiencing economic hardship and hunger, arguing that the situation could heighten public tensions if the electoral process was not allowed to reflect the choice of voters.
According to Amaechi, Tinubu would not rig the election because of the potential consequences of such an action.
He said the President could ease the situation by addressing the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians, particularly by explaining how funds saved from the removal of the petrol subsidy were being utilised.
Amaechi also questioned the impact of the Federal Government’s economic reforms on ordinary Nigerians, particularly in relation to food, transportation and fuel prices.
His comments followed another challenge he issued to Tinubu over petrol prices. Amaechi said he would withdraw from the ADC ticket and campaign for Tinubu if petrol sold for N600 per litre, offering to personally verify the price at a filling station.
The ADC candidate also said he believed Nigerians were seeking tangible improvements in their living conditions rather than political promises.
Amaechi has continued to criticise the Tinubu administration over its economic policies as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general election.
The former minister is the running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on the ADC ticket for the 2027 presidential election.
His latest comments add to the growing political debate over the economy, electoral integrity and the conduct of the 2027 elections.
