The Osun State chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has said Governor Ademola Adeleke’s appointment as coordinator of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in the state will not guarantee victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party stated this following Adeleke’s inclusion as Osun State coordinator of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) Presidential Campaign Council in the APC’s revised list of campaign officials.

In a statement signed by its Osun State Chairman, Wale Adebayo, the APM described the appointment as having no automatic impact on the party’s electoral prospects in the state.
Adebayo argued that Osun voters would make their choices based on candidates’ performance, personal convictions and the issues affecting their lives, rather than political appointments.
“Osun State has a politically sophisticated electorate capable of making independent decisions during elections,” he said.
The APM chairman maintained that Adeleke’s inclusion in the campaign council would not necessarily translate into votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
“His inclusion in the revised APC Presidential Campaign Council list does not guarantee Tinubu’s victory in Osun in the coming general election,” Adebayo stated.
He added that the governor’s designation as the President’s campaign coordinator should not be interpreted as evidence that the APC would secure the state in the forthcoming polls.
“Osun people are politically sophisticated and will vote based on their conscience, not on whose name appears on a campaign council list,” he said.
Adebayo also expressed confidence in the prospects of opposition parties in the state, insisting that Adeleke’s new role would not prevent them from competing for voters’ support.
He specifically claimed that the APM’s presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, would win Osun State in the 2027 general election.
“We are confident that despite this appointment, our presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, will win Osun State in the general election,” he declared.
Adeleke’s appointment places him in Tinubu’s re-election campaign structure despite being the governor of Osun on the platform of the Accord Party.
The development has drawn attention to the political alliances emerging ahead of the 2027 elections, as parties and candidates seek to broaden their support beyond traditional party boundaries.
However, the APM maintained that the outcome of the presidential election in Osun would ultimately depend on voters’ decisions at the ballot box rather than the composition of the campaign council.
