The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has called on security agencies to investigate the reported attack on the campaign vehicle of its candidate for Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency in Taraba State, Innocent Umar Jabayang.
The incident reportedly occurred during the weekend in Yorro Local Government Area, where the vehicle was allegedly damaged by suspected political thugs.

The APGA governorship candidate in Taraba State, Danjuma Usman Shiddi, condemned the incident, describing it as a threat to peaceful political participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Shiddi said the vehicle, with registration number GBB-339AA, sustained damage to its windscreens and bodywork, while campaign materials were also reportedly destroyed.
He urged the Taraba State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant authorities to investigate the incident and ensure that anyone found responsible was brought to justice.
The governorship candidate stressed that political disagreements should be settled through dialogue and the exchange of ideas rather than intimidation or violence.
He also reaffirmed APGA’s commitment to peaceful campaigning, insisting that the reported attack would not discourage the party from mobilising supporters ahead of the elections.
Jabayang, meanwhile, called on Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas to ensure the effective enforcement of the state’s anti-thuggery law.
The federal constituency candidate expressed concern over what he described as growing political violence and alleged unequal treatment in the handling of such incidents across the state.
He urged the governor and security agencies to ensure that allegations of political violence were investigated impartially, irrespective of the political affiliations of those involved.
Jabayang also appealed to his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, warning against any action that could escalate tensions in the constituency.
The reported attack has renewed concerns over the safety of political candidates and their supporters as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
No arrests or official findings establishing those responsible for the reported attack were contained in the available reports.
