Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has warned the All Progressives Congress (APC) against intimidating opposition politicians ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that they would resist any attempt to suppress their political activities.
Melaye, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said opposition members would no longer tolerate harassment, threats or attacks allegedly targeted at them by supporters of the ruling party.

The former lawmaker made the remarks in a statement shared on his social media platform, where he expressed concern over what he described as increasing intimidation of opposition figures as political activities gather momentum ahead of the next general elections.
He insisted that members of opposition parties had the constitutional right to organise, campaign and mobilise support without fear of harassment.
Using a strong expression to communicate his position, Melaye declared, “All die na die,” adding that the opposition was prepared to defend itself against further intimidation.
He maintained that political competition should be determined by voters through a credible electoral process rather than threats, violence or the abuse of political power.
Melaye also called on security agencies to remain neutral and ensure that all political parties and their supporters were protected, irrespective of their affiliations.
He warned that any attempt to use state institutions or political influence to silence opposition voices could undermine democratic participation and create unnecessary tension ahead of the 2027 polls.
The ADC chieftain’s comments come amid growing political exchanges between the ruling APC and opposition parties over the conduct of political activities and the safety of their members.
He urged opposition supporters to remain resolute while exercising their democratic rights, insisting that they would not abandon their political engagements because of alleged intimidation.
The former senator’s remarks add to the mounting political tensions as parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
