A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate in Oyo State, Comrade Akinloye Olusegun, has demanded a comprehensive breakdown of federal allocations to the state’s 33 local government areas between 2019 and 2026, warning that he may petition anti-corruption agencies over the management of the funds.
Olusegun, who contested the Surulere/Ogo-Oluwa Federal Constituency seat, made the request through his solicitors, Umar and Alofe Chambers, in a letter addressed to the Minister of Finance and the Accountant-General of the Federation.

The application, dated October 27, 2026, was submitted under the Freedom of Information Act, 2011, by the lawyer, Ayo Omoleaupen.
According to the solicitors, the request is intended to promote transparency and accountability in the administration of public funds and may precede petitions to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The candidate is seeking a monthly breakdown of all federal allocations disbursed to each of the 33 local government areas from May 2019 to October 2026.
The requested records include statutory allocations, Value Added Tax (VAT) proceeds, exchange rate gains or differentials, Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), excess crude distributions and other approved payments or augmentations by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).
The solicitors also requested the aggregate amount received collectively by the 33 councils for each month within the period under review.
In the letter, they explained that the information was being sought for civic accountability, public interest research and transparency in public finance management, citing Section 14(2)(c) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation was given seven days from the receipt of the application to provide the requested information in line with Section 4 of the Freedom of Information Act.
The legal representatives also indicated their client’s readiness to pay the prescribed fees for searching, photocopying, transcription and the issuance of certified true copies of relevant documents, where necessary.
They described Olusegun as an indigene of Oyo State with an interest in accountable governance and public finance management.
The request covers the period from the beginning of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration in 2019 through October 2026.
However, the demand for the records does not in itself establish any wrongdoing in the management of the local government funds. The requested financial information is expected to provide a basis for examining the allocations received by the councils and determining whether further action is warranted.
The development comes amid continuing debates over local government financial autonomy and accountability in the management of public resources.
