In a letter dated Thursday, 31 July 2014, the Seychelles Football Federation informed the Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) of its withdrawal from the Orange Africa Cup of Nations – Morocco 2015.
Seychelles were scheduled to face Sierra Leone this weekend in the second leg of the second round of the qualifying rounds. Sierra Leone won the first leg 2-0 in Freetown two weeks ago.
Following this decision, Sierra Leone joins Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon and DR Congo in Group D of the next phase of the qualifying rounds.
The Organizing Committee of the Africa Cup of Nations will examine the case of the withdrawal of Seychelles, which came at a time that Sierra Leone had started the journey for the return leg, originally scheduled for Saturday, 2 August 2014.
