Manchester United could make Dinamo Bucharest winger Dorin Rotariu their first signing of the January transfer window after the teenager confirmed he has held talks with the Premier League champions.
.
The 18-year-old has made some of Europe’s most prominent clubs take notice this season having scored five goals in 17 league appearances, while he has also been added to Romania’s under-21 squad.
.
Manchester United are among those keen to recruit Rotariu and the club’s scouting network has already made an initial move to bring the highly-rated youngster to Old Trafford.
.
Rotariu claims representatives from Manchester United have been to Bucharest to discuss a proposed move to English football, although the starlet is in no rush to leave his current employers.
.
“It was a meeting in Bucharest with Manchester United officials with whom I chatted for around two hours,” he told Romanian newspaper Ring.
.
“They wanted to know me personally, to see what kind of guy I am, what character I have. We didn’t just discuss football.
.
“I was told they are monitoring me. This gives me ambition and motivates me. When a club the size of Manchester has you in sight, you can only be proud.
.
“Honestly, I did not expect to happen quickly, but I tell you I will not go to your head. I’m going to focus even more on every game and to give everything in training.
.
“I feel very well at Dinamo and I want to win trophies here. The cup is important for me and my colleagues.”
.
It is unclear as yet if Manchester United are preparing to make a formal approach in a bid to sign the player ahead of their rivals.
