Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress, APC, barely three days after resigning from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
Yusuf had announced his resignation from the NNPP last Friday, citing protracted internal crises and legal disputes which, according to him, had weakened the party’s cohesion at both state and national levels.

InfoStride News reports that the governor’s return to the APC followed earlier indications that he was set to rejoin the ruling party on Monday.
The development comes amid a wave of defections in Kano State, as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore, his Deputy, Muhammad Butu-Butu, the Majority Leader, Lawan Hussain, and 19 other lawmakers also officially defected from the NNPP to the APC.
The mass defection underscores a major political realignment in the state, following Governor Yusuf’s exit from the NNPP and his decision to pitch his tent with the ruling party ahead of future political contests.
