The Abia State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has thrown its weight behind the former National Working Committee of the party for initiating the appointment of an interim National Chairman, David Mark, and for advancing ongoing coalition discussions aimed at strengthening the party.
This endorsement was made on Saturday in Umuahia during an enlarged meeting of ADC members and representatives from allied political parties participating in the coalition effort.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the Abia ADC confirmed that the interim National Working Committee of the coalition ADC had officially recognised Mr Iyke Nwoke as the interim Chairman of the party in Abia State.

The communiqué, which was jointly signed by former ADC governorship candidate, Bishop Sunday Onuoha, Iyke Nwoke, and other key stakeholders, also named Mr Okey Ezeala as the interim State Secretary of the ADC in Abia. The party praised Bishop Onuoha for his role in unifying party members and steering the party toward broader cooperation through coalition efforts.
However, the party expressed concerns about certain individuals who continue to claim ADC membership while remaining actively involved in their previous political parties.
“The only valid way of joining the coalition ADC is through registration at the ward level and proper identification with the interim leadership,” the communiqué stated. “We will not tolerate political grandstanding or mere social media declarations.”
