The People’s Democratic Party candidate for governor in Rivers State, Siminialayi Fubara, was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), but the Accord Party in Rivers State has filed an appeal against the decision of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja, which upheld Fubara’s victory.
The Accord Party is located in Rivers State.
The appeal that was filed by the Accord governorship candidate, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, was thrown out by the three-person panel of the election tribunal because it lacked validity because the candidate did not prove his assertions that there were irregularities in the election.

However, Lulu-Briggs, through the assistance of his legal team, has presented an additional 27 grounds of appeal and five reliefs requested.
These arguments have been entered, documented, and communicated.
The Accord and its candidate for governor are looking for a number of different types of remedy, one of which is an order from the appeals court that will overturn a portion of the ruling made by the tribunal.
Additionally, Chief Lulu-Briggs requests that the Appeal Court declare null and illegal the election that was held on the 18th and 19th of March, 2023, and that INEC be directed to hold additional elections for the post of governor of Rivers State.
