The National Treasurer of the Accord Party, Chief Abdulazeez Oyeniyi Salaudeen, has declared that the party conducted a valid and lawful governorship primary election in Osun State on December 10, 2025.
Salaudeen said the primary was held in full compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022, and under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, with Governor Ademola Adeleke emerging as the party’s candidate.

Speaking at a press briefing in Minna, the national treasurer disclosed that the exercise involved 150 accredited delegates, out of which Adeleke secured 145 valid votes, while five votes were voided due to improper thumb printing.
He explained that the process was transparent and orderly, noting that officials of INEC, security agencies, the media, and election observers were present throughout the exercise.
Salaudeen, who chaired the party’s Electoral Committee for the primary, formally declared Adeleke the winner of the poll.
He dismissed claims of a parallel primary allegedly organised by individuals he described as former members expelled from the party in 2024, alleging that the move was aimed at destabilising Accord Party in Osun State.
According to him, the party has no faction and remains united under the leadership of its National Chairman, Barrister Maxwell Ngbudem, and National Secretary, Hon. Adebukola Abiola Ajaja.
“We have been informed that some persons who were expelled from the party since early 2024 are parading a so-called election that was neither recognised by INEC nor conducted in line with the law,” Salaudeen said.
He further alleged that the purported parallel exercise was sponsored by members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State to cause confusion within the Accord Party.
Salaudeen added that the party’s North-Central Zone held a meeting on Saturday, December 14, 2025, during which members reaffirmed their confidence in the current national leadership of the party.
