The Accord Party in Osun State has suspended its chairman, Victor Akande, for alleged anti-party activities, following a resolution by six executive committee members during an emergency session in Ile-Ife.
The suspension, which was also ratified by 13 local government chairmen in attendance, was based on accusations of Akande’s unilateral actions in party affairs and failure to respond to allegations against him.
In a communique signed by all attendees, Akande was accused of conducting party activities without consulting other members of the state executive and acting dictatorially, leading to division within the party’s structure.

The statement further alleged that Akande mismanaged palliatives from the state government meant for the party and suspended several members of the state working committees and Ife/Ijesa Chairmen without just cause.
Additionally, Akande was accused of appointing his woman friend, Oluwakemi Awogbade, as vice chairman of the party without following due process.
Other allegations included sponsoring a parallel executive committee, recruiting thugs to intimidate party candidates, and trading party members for accreditation of another political party.
The resolution stated that Akande’s suspension would remain in effect until he convincingly addresses all the allegations against him.
Attempts to reach Akande for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
