The Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on prominent political figures who have associated with the party to formally register as members in order to strengthen its structure and legitimacy.
Speaking at the party’s state headquarters in Yola during the launch of its membership registration exercise, the State Chairman, Shehu Yohanna, specifically mentioned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, among those expected to register.
Yohanna said that while several influential politicians have identified with the ADC in recent months, the only way they can wield legitimate influence within the party is through proper registration and possession of a membership card.

“ADC has come to stay because it has been in existence since 2002. Today, by the special grace of God, coalition members have chosen ADC, but they must come and register formally,” he said.
He stressed that Atiku and Babachir, as coalition leaders, must also return to their respective wards to complete their membership process. “Until then, they cannot be regarded as bona fide members with a voice in the party,” Yohanna added.
The ADC chairman expressed confidence that the party’s coalition-driven structure positions it as a credible political alternative capable of rescuing Nigeria from worsening socio-economic challenges.
He urged stakeholders, coalition partners, and supporters across Adamawa State to actively participate in the fresh registration exercise.
Yohanna maintained that the ADC in Adamawa is poised to emerge as a leading political force ahead of the 2027 elections, noting that mass registration would provide the necessary foundation for the party’s growth and influence.
