On Saturday, October 28, the Governorship Election Tribunal in Yola will hear a case contesting the conduct of the most recent governorship election in Adamawa State.
Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani, a major candidate for governor from the All Progressives Congress, APC, filed the action challenging INEC’s decision to reject her declaration as winner of the governorship rerun on April 15.
For example, on April 16, 2023, INEC’s now-suspended state REC Hudu Ari-Yunusa announced that Binani had won an election that had taken place the day before but whose results had not yet been fully tallied.

After Hudu’s premature pronouncement, INEC reversed course, suspended him, finished counting the votes, and declared Peoples Democratic Party candidate Ahmadu Fintiri the victor.
On May 5, Binani filed an electoral appeal challenging INEC’s results and its proclamation of Fintiri as the winner.
The tribunal has taken the next step in Binani’s case by issuing a notice to the parties to appear before it on October 28.
Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru and one or more other petitioners; INEC and two or more other petitioners; and “such other days as the tribunal may determine” will have their case heard on October 28th, 2023.
