The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a suspect and recovered a jackknife and a stolen mobile phone as part of its ongoing efforts to tackle violent crime in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sulaiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed the arrest in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on January 8, 2025, when operatives from the Hong Divisional Police Headquarters swiftly responded to a distress call about an armed robbery.

The suspects, armed with dangerous weapons, attacked Mrs. Laraba Akanawaya, a staff member of the College of Education in Hong, stealing her mobile phone in the process.
“One of the suspects, identified as Ferdinand Yerima, was apprehended at the scene of the crime.
A jackknife, used during the robbery, and the stolen phone were recovered, while other accomplices managed to flee the scene,” Nguroje stated.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of investigations to take over the case for a comprehensive probe.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eliminating criminal activities in the state and urged residents to remain alert, report suspicious activities, and cooperate with law enforcement to enhance public safety.
