The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a decisive step in Imo State, Nigeria, by dissolving the State Working Committee (SWC) led by Ignatius Nlem.
This action comes in the wake of allegations of gross anti-party activities during the recent off-cycle Governorship Election held on November 11, 2023.
The decision to dissolve the SWC was made public in a statement released by the National Vice Chairman South East of ADC, Chilos Godsent, in Owerri.

According to the statement, the former SWC was given an ultimatum to voluntarily resign from their positions or face dismissal.
Upon their refusal to resign, the party moved forward with their dissolution.
In the same statement, ADC unveiled the newly constituted SWC that will take charge of the party’s affairs in Imo State.
The new committee is tasked with repositioning the party and leading it to victory in the upcoming 2027 General Elections. The members of the new SWC are as follows:

– Hon Amadi Chidi – State Deputy Chairman
– Mr Okoro Charles – State Secretary
– Mrs. Ijeoma Egocha – State Treasurer
– Hon Justice Ugochukwu – State Financial Secretary
– Mr. Oparaugo Emmanuel – State Publicity Secretary
– Deacon Jacob Onuigbo – State Organizing Secretary
– Mrs Loveth Emedo – State Auditor
– Iroh Lazarus Iheanacho – State Legal Adviser
– Lolo Ngozi Nwosu – State Women Leader
– Comrade Edih Chidiebere – State Youth Leader
– Chief Charles Nwosu – State Vice Chairman Okigwe Zone
– Chief Onukaogu Paschal – State Vice Chairman Owerri Zone
– Mazi Nnamdi Aguguo – State Vice Chairman Orlu Zone
Chief Dr Amushie Emmanuel, the newly appointed State Chairman of ADC in Imo State, expressed his unwavering commitment to lead the party to victory in future elections.
He reiterated the party’s determination to ensure that the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) conducts Local Government Council Elections in the state before the end of June 2024.
Additionally, he emphasized ADC’s role as the leading opposition party in Imo State, dedicated to promoting participatory democracy and good governance.
