The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that its primary objective ahead of the 2027 general elections is to unseat President Bola Tinubu from power.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made this known on Friday while speaking on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television monitored by newsmen.
According to Abdullahi, removing President Tinubu from office is essential to reclaiming the country from what he described as poor governance and abuse of power.

“We want to get Tinubu out of power. That’s the only way we can get our country back,” he said.
He stressed that the party’s position was not driven by desperation but by a conviction that Nigeria’s democratic and governance structures had been undermined.
“Not desperately, because it is only by getting him out of power that we can take our country back. The country has more or less been hijacked,” Abdullahi stated.
He accused the current administration of exhibiting what he described as reckless behaviour, likening some actions of government officials to “banditry.”
“You see some of the behaviour of the people in government, and when people say you can smash and grab power and run with it, that’s the language of banditry,” he said.
The ADC spokesman further alleged that recent actions of the federal government were unprecedented in Nigeria’s political history, including claims of forgery of a law duly passed by the National Assembly.
“A government that can forge a duly passed law—what do you call that? Some things have happened in recent times that are unprecedented in the history of Nigeria,” he added.
Abdullahi also criticised reports that the Nigerian government paid $9 million to lobbyists to improve its image before United States President Donald Trump, describing the move as troubling.
“This is the first time we are hearing that the Nigerian government will pay $9 million for lobbyists to make them look good before the US President,” he said.
He maintained that the ADC would continue to position itself as a strong opposition platform ahead of the 2027 elections.
