Yango, a prominent tech company in Africa, has pledged its ongoing commitment to the continent’s development at the recent CEO AFRICA Forum held in Kigali.
This forum gathered innovators, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and public policymakers to discuss the future of technology and its impact on African cities.
Since its inception in Africa six years ago, Yango has experienced exponential growth. The company now operates in over 13 countries and has become a household name for affordable and safe rides and deliveries in many regions. This growth has cemented Yango’s position as a leader in ride-hailing and tech services.

Adeniyi Adebayo, Yango’s Chief Business Officer and Head of Africa, participated in the strategic Innovation and Tech panel at the forum. He shared Yango’s vision and the pivotal role of technology in transforming urban transportation in Africa. Adebayo stated, “We are thrilled to once again be a part of this community. The prestigious forum provided a platform for Yango to highlight our success and share insights on the future of African mobility and demonstrate dedication to sustainable growth, local investment, and commitment to African markets.”
Yango has significantly increased its investment in Africa, underscoring its commitment to sustained, long-term growth across the continent. New markets and services have been launched since the last CEO Africa forum, doubling the number of rides year-on-year. Yango initially launched its ride-hailing services in Ivory Coast in 2018 and now operates in Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, DRC, Ghana, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Republic of Congo, Senegal, Zambia, and Ethiopia.
Today, nearly a million drivers and couriers rely on the Yango platform as their primary income source. In 2023 alone, Yango rides more than doubled year-on-year, with over a quarter billion journeys completed in Africa since its launch.
Yango’s business model focuses on empowering entrepreneurship and strengthening the development of local partners across Africa. By December 2023, over 1,720 SME partners in Africa had benefited from their partnership with Yango. The company’s strength lies in technological excellence and the provision of top-notch products and services to local SME partners who operate their transport, delivery, and financial services businesses.
Yango plans to increase the number of partners by 30% through 2024, focusing on business improvement programs for SME suppliers to grow alongside Yango.
Beyond ride-hailing, Yango offers diverse services globally, including Maps, Navigator, Yango devices (Yasmina), media services (Play), cloud storage (Photo), fintech (Pay), education, on-demand item delivery, food delivery, and e-commerce. Yango has already started expanding into new services with the Yangoapp, aiming to be the one-stop shop for Africans across the continent.
Yango is an international tech company that adapts global technologies into everyday services tailored for local communities. With a steadfast commitment to innovation, Yango reshapes and enhances cutting-edge technologies from around the world into seamlessly integrated daily services for diverse regions. The company provides services through its superapp and ride-hailing offerings across more than 20 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
