Dr. Itorobong Etim, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance in the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, has given assurances that the 2024 Appropriation Bill will receive approval before December 31.
Addressing reporters in response to the presentation of the 2024 appropriation bill by Governor Umo Eno, Etim stressed the importance of collaboration between Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) during the budget defense.
She emphasized the need for a streamlined process to facilitate the swift passage of the budget.

Representing the Uruan state constituency, Etim underscored the continuity of government programs, stating that the current administration would build upon initiatives initiated by its predecessor.
She assured the public that the Committee is committed to engaging with MDAs to expedite the legislative process, stating, “I want to assure members of the public that the Committee will be willing to interface with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure the passage of the bill within record time.”
Etim issued a directive to heads of MDAs, urging them to collaborate with the committee and avoid unnecessary delays during the budget defense.
Highlighting the focus of the 2024 budget, the chairman revealed that Governor Umo Eno had outlined plans to enhance the agricultural sector, aiming to achieve food sufficiency for the residents of Akwa Ibom.
This strategic emphasis aligns with broader efforts to boost the state’s self-sustainability and support the agricultural community.
