Ambassador Obinna Ukor, a prominent member of the Obedient Movement in the Southeast States, has officially left the Labour Party (LP) to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State.
Ukor cited Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s exemplary leadership as a key factor in his decision to join the APC, noting the governor’s ability to lead beyond party lines.
The event, which took place on Friday night at the APC’s state Headquarters in Abakaliki, witnessed Ukor expressing his political journey, stating, “Today is a faithful day in my political history because I was once a member of the Labour Party, LP, and also the obedient movement.

When you talk about the obedient movement, you are talking about us here.”
He further emphasized the peace and development in Ebonyi State under Governor Nwifuru’s administration, calling on his colleagues in the Diaspora to join hands with the governor to further develop the state.
Fred Ukor, a cousin to Obinna Ukor, also joined the APC, commending Governor Nwifuru’s administration for its youth empowerment programs, which have significantly impacted the lives of street hawkers and menial workers in the state.
While receiving the decampees, the state chairman of the APC, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, thanked Ukor and his cousin for their active participation in the 2023 general elections, noting their efforts in producing a South-East Presidential candidate of Igbo extraction.
Emegha urged them to continue supporting Governor Nwifuru in the transformation of the state, emphasizing the need for unity and support towards achieving common goals.
