The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a 1,800-member campaign council ahead of the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.
The inauguration, held in Awka on Tuesday, was presided over by the party’s National Chairman, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, who was represented by the APC Southeast Vice-Chairman, Dr Ijeoma Arodiogbu.
In his remarks, Yilwatda expressed confidence in the APC’s capacity to defeat the incumbent governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

He said the ruling party at the centre would deploy its resources to legally unseat Soludo.
“Anambra is very dear to the APC national leadership. We have selected all of you because we believe you can deliver the job.
We are going for nothing but victory, and for us to achieve it, you must double your efforts,” he said.
He added that the APC in the Southeast, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, the party’s national leadership, and President Bola Tinubu were fully backing the campaign, assuring members that “victory is assured come November 8.”
According to him, other structures including senatorial, local government, ward, and polling unit teams would also be inaugurated to strengthen the campaign machinery.
APC’s governorship candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, appealed for the support of party faithful and residents of the state, pledging to prioritise security, improve the business climate, and drive industrial growth through a proposed gas power plant to harness Anambra’s natural gas resources.
Ukachukwu also promised to transform the agricultural sector by promoting mechanised farming and introducing insurance schemes to support farmers.
On his part, the Director-General of the campaign council, Dozie Ikedife, assured that the council would work tirelessly to deliver Ukachukwu as governor and Uche Ekwunife as his deputy.
