The Anambra State Government has imposed a restriction of movement across the state from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 28, 2024, to facilitate a smooth local government election.
In a statement released by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, the government explained that the restriction was put in place at the request of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) to ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process.
“Ndi Anambra are hereby informed that there is a movement restriction throughout Anambra State on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, as requested by ANSIEC.

This restriction is to ensure a peaceful and seamless exercise during the Anambra State Local Government Council Election,” Mefor stated.
The Commissioner further clarified that only individuals on essential election duties would be exempted from the restriction.
These include ANSIEC officials, electoral observers, accredited journalists, ambulances attending to medical emergencies, and firefighters.
Mefor urged all residents to comply with the order to avoid facing legal consequences, emphasising that the restriction is in the interest of maintaining peace during the election period.
