The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, Abubakar Muhammad Kana, has refuted rumours circulating on social media suggesting that Governor Nasir Idris is planning to defect from the party.
Speaking during an APC stakeholders’ meeting attended by Governor Idris, his deputy, former Governor Sa’idu Dakingari, and the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Kana described the claims as baseless and misleading.
“Kebbi State remains firmly under APC leadership and continues to record steady progress under Governor Nasir Idris,” Kana stated.

He commended the governor’s performance and expressed satisfaction with the achievements recorded both at the state and federal levels under the APC-led government.
“We are satisfied with the excellent performance of Governor Nasir Idris at the state level and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the federal level. We are committed to working for their second term in office to continue the good work already started,” he added.
In his remarks, Governor Idris attributed the defection rumours to deliberate misinformation spread by individuals with ulterior motives.
He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the APC and President Tinubu’s administration.
“Kebbi is an APC state, and it will suffice and prosper. We remain resolute in our support for President Tinubu and confident in his administration, now and in the next tenure, to continue delivering the dividends of democracy,” he stated.
