Some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rein in the party’s governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State, Ahmed Wadada, warning that failure to act could cost the party victory in the 2027 gubernatorial election.
The party leaders, in a statement signed by Emmanuel Zachary and Ahmed Umar, accused Wadada of allegedly deploying blackmail and intimidation in pursuit of his political ambition.
They argued that such actions could deepen divisions within the APC and undermine internal democracy in the state.

According to the statement, political aspiration remains a constitutional right of every citizen and should be pursued without fear or intimidation.
The chieftains warned that attempts to force out other aspirants through undemocratic means could breed resentment and weaken the party’s chances at the polls.
“A situation where a contestant resorts to blackmail to scare away fellow aspirants is not only despicable but dangerous to our growing democracy. Democracy is a game of numbers,” the statement read.
They further cautioned that continued use of such tactics could lead to disunity within the party and ultimately hand victory to opposition parties in Nasarawa State.
Meanwhile, the state governor, Abdullahi Sule, has indicated interest in contesting for a senatorial seat in the next election cycle.
