In a significant move, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has shut down its national secretariat following the tragic killing of its Director of Administration, Late Hon. AbdulRauf Adekunle Adeniji.
According to reports, Adeniji, who had been kidnapped several weeks ago, was killed last month.
The circumstances surrounding his death have been particularly disturbing, as it has been revealed that the kidnappers attempted to conceal the news of his murder even while continuing negotiations for a purported ransom of ₦50 million.

In an official memo titled “Secretariat Closure for the Mourning of the Director of Administration,” the APC announced the immediate cessation of all party and work activities at the national secretariat. The memorandum stated that the decision was taken as the party was shocked and deeply grieved by Adeniji’s untimely demise. It further directed staff to observe a period of mourning characterized by “sober reflection and prayers for the family and loved ones.”
The memo specified that the closure would be in effect until Monday, 14th April 2025. Party leadership confirmed that this measure was enacted immediately following the receipt of the tragic news.
Party members and sympathizers are now coming together to honor Adeniji’s memory and to reflect on the security challenges posed by such violent criminal activities, which continue to unsettle the nation.
Further updates on investigations into Adeniji’s killing and any subsequent political ramifications are awaited as the APC continues to mourn the loss of a dedicated party official.
