The faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, led by Emeka Beke, has demanded the resignation of the national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Speaking at a media briefing in Port Harcourt, Darlington Nwauju, the embattled Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state, emphasized that Ganduje should either address his suspension at the ward level or seek legal recourse to uphold his position.
Nwauju highlighted that according to the party’s constitution, only ward executives and members have the authority to suspend or dismiss members.

He urged Ganduje to step down and allow his Deputy to oversee the party’s affairs.
The APC faction cited Article 9 of the party’s constitution, which states that membership resides in the wards and that disciplinary measures start from the ward level.
Nwauju stated that since a High Court had affirmed Ganduje’s suspension, he should step aside as National Chairman pending the determination of the matter or his replacement by the National Executive Committee.
He also pointed out the moral burden the party faces in denying the North Central zone its right to a replacement for the National Chairmanship position, as per the party’s constitution.
Nwauju expressed hope that the party would rectify this by allowing someone from the North Central to occupy the position.
