Governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have expressed dissatisfaction with the primary election overseen by Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State.
The primary election, held in the 203 wards of the state, is intended to elect the party’s flag bearer for the November 16 governorship election.
Addressing the media in Akure while the election was ongoing, the aspirants claimed that Ododo did not follow the due process outlined by the national leadership of the party.

Mr. Gbenga Edema, one of the aspirants, criticized the delay in releasing electoral materials for the primary.
Edema stated, “As I’m speaking to you at 10:00 am, no electoral materials have been distributed. We have been here with others before 7:00 a.m. because the secretary of the committee, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, told us during the stakeholders’ meeting that the materials would be distributed to the electoral officers at the BON Hotel, Akure.”
Similarly, Mr. Sola Ajisafe, representing Mr. Wale Akinterinwa, another aspirant, claimed that no election was conducted in the state.
He alleged connivance and agreement by Governor Ododo to manipulate the process.
Mr. Rotimi Ogunleye, representing Mr. Olusola Oke, emphasized the need for the committee to follow due process, calling for President Bola Tinubu’s intervention.
In response, Ododo stated that electoral materials had been distributed to Ondo North and Ondo South Senatorial Districts and promised to address all grievances.
Reports from Ward 10 in Akure South Local Government Area indicated that the election had been concluded peacefully and orderly.
However, at Obanla/Ijomu Ward 4, Akure South Local Government Area, accreditation was yet to be done as of noon, according to Mr. Yinka Akosile, an electorate.
