On Tuesday, Senator Abdulahi Adamu, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), declared that the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) had no say in the selection of parliamentary leaders.
According to Infostride News, after the conclusion of the party’s meeting on May 8, 2023, National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka declared that the zoning formula offered by President Bola Tinubu had been ratified.
Adamu, who led the meeting, abruptly reversed course on Tuesday by publicly rejecting the National Assembly’s top officials.

He made it clear that the APC NWC had nothing to do with the election of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, or any of the other top APC officials.
He made the remarks at the APC party headquarters, where he was meeting with the party’s governors.
He said, “You will learn the latest on the division of labour in the National Assembly, including the makeup of the chamber leadership. The Senate President and Vice President will choose the other top Senate officials. It has been decided and declared who would serve as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The Senate President and his Deputy paid me a courtesy call on Saturday, and I appreciated it. Sallah’s honour was paid to me the following Sunday by the Speaker and his Deputy Speaker.
But I have heard rumours from the web media that there have been announcements in the House and Senate. The NWC’s national headquarters has not provided any such details or spoken with the party concerning the selection of offices.
We have no plans to deviate from customs until and until we have officially resolved and communicated with them in writing, as is customary. In other words, the Senate President, Vice President, Speaker, or Deputy Speaker are not representing this Secretariat when they make a statement.
There has been no caucus in existence for quite some time, and we will formally advise you of this fact. The caucus has been reformed in accordance with APC’s bylaws.
You know your states better than we do, so we’ll be talking about that with you as governors. You, the governors, are the ones in charge, even if we are from the same state.
