The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed apprehension regarding the growing disconnect between the people of the state and the government, attributing it to the political instability plaguing Governor Siminialayi Fubara’s administration.
In a statement signed by the party’s publicity secretary, Darlington Nwauju, the APC highlighted the detrimental impact of the ongoing political crisis on the state’s governance.
The party emphasized that the political turbulence has undermined the effectiveness of the government’s policies, contributing to an alarming rise in poverty within society.

“The political crisis in the state has weakened the government’s policies due to the inaction of the administration in the face of increasing poverty in society,” stated the APC.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the perceived excuses of political distractions, the party asserted, “Rivers people cannot accept the excuse of political distractions for failing to work assiduously to reduce insecurity and unemployment and provide improved access to education, clean drinking water, and electricity.”
The Rivers APC insisted that the challenges of political crises should not serve as a reason to neglect the welfare of the people, urging Governor Fubara to formulate a clear development agenda and an actionable plan of execution.
The party emphasized the need for a transparent justification of the substantial funds allocated to the state annually.
“On this note, we urge you [Gov Fubara] to get up, sit up, and get cracking,” concluded the statement.
