The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State has recorded a significant boost as hundreds of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defected to the ruling party.
The mass defection took place on Saturday during a well-attended political gathering in Aljannare Ward, facilitated by prominent APC stalwart, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Naingila.
The defectors cited the developmental strides of Governor Nasir Idris and Naingila’s strong grassroots presence as key motivations behind their decision.

Speaking on behalf of the new entrants, Alhaji Shehu Agadas said the wave of defections by influential political figures, including Hon. Muhammad Ruwa RK and Alhaji Riskuwa Dakingari, had further inspired confidence in the APC.
“We are aligning with the APC because we have seen the direction of progress and development. The recent defections of respected leaders have strengthened our belief in the party’s vision,” Agadas stated.
The defectors pledged their full loyalty to the APC and expressed their readiness to support Governor Idris’s administration in advancing the state.
Welcoming the new members, APC leaders including Hon. Usman Abubakar Ladan, Hon. Faruku Abubakar Maisudan, and Hon. Muhammad Lawal Suru, assured them of full integration and equal opportunities within the party structure.
The event drew top APC stakeholders from Suru LGA and other parts of the state, further solidifying the party’s growing influence in the region ahead of the 2027 elections.
