The All Progressives Congress, APC, has condemned the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over what it described as an irresponsible call for foreign intervention in Nigeria’s internal affairs.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the appeal as reckless, unpatriotic and a dangerous threat to national security.
InfoStride News reports that the PDP’s factional chairman, Tanimu Turaki, had earlier called on foreign powers to intervene in Nigeria, alleging “Christian genocide” and claiming democracy was under threat amid the deepening crisis within the opposition party.

Responding, Morka said Turaki’s remarks demonstrated desperation and confusion, noting that his comments exposed his lack of capacity to manage the internal conflict tearing the PDP apart.
He said Nigerians had expected Turaki to prioritise peace-building efforts and initiate dialogue among the warring factions of the PDP rather than resort to inflammatory statements.
“Turaki’s first official act as factional chairman was his call for foreign invasion of Nigeria as a solution to the self-inflicted internal crisis of his PDP,” Morka said.
“This is not only reckless and unpatriotic but shameless, and it poses a dangerous threat to national security and sovereignty.”
The APC spokesperson argued that even during the PDP’s 16-year rule, despite allegations of subverting opposition parties, no political actor called for foreign intervention over party disputes.
“We trust the international community to dismiss the PDP’s disgraceful and unpatriotic call as a pitiful distraction from the failure of its internal democracy and embarrassing disintegration,” Morka added.
The development comes amid heightened political tensions, with several prominent figures urging stakeholders to prioritise dialogue and national stability.
