In a recent revelation, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has exposed alleged plans by state government agents to finance a protest aimed at obstructing the discontinuation of funds to local governments with undemocratic structures in Benue and other states across the nation.
According to a statement released by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Daniel Ihomun, the protest is purportedly directed not only against President Bola Tinubu but also targets Senate President Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Dr. George Akume, who serves as the APC Leader in Benue.
Ihomun asserted, “The party views this act of sabotage as portending grave danger to the unity of the state and the party, if people who claim APC membership and are working under an APC state government would undermine their President, the Senate President, and the SGF in an open protest in their quest to stifle the hands of government on a matter of law.”

He further disclosed that the party urges security agencies, including the Inspector General of Police and the Benue State Commissioner of Police, to closely monitor the planned protest, emphasizing the potential risks it poses to the state’s unity and the administration.
Ihomun concluded by calling on Governor Hyacinth Alia to keep a vigilant eye on elements within his government who may be exploiting his name for actions that could lead to chaos in the state, and urged all security agencies in the state to remain on high alert.
