Senator Abdullahi Adamu, national chairman of the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, has urged his colleagues in Congress to work with the executive branch to promote national unity and prosperity.
Adamu made these remarks over the weekend while hosting a group of senators, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, for Sallah observance at his home in Keffi, Nasarawa State. He emphasised the importance of maintaining a cooperative relationship between the legislative and executive branches of government in delivering on the promises of democracy to the people of Nigeria.
The chairman congratulated Akpabio and his deputy, Senator Jibrin Barau, on their election as the Red Chamber’s new presiding officers and advised them to get down to the serious business of governing the country now that election season was over.

He extended his congratulations to the new Senate president and his deputy. The party was greatly relieved to see you. The election process is completed, and it’s time for leadership to take over. The best interest of the people demands that our legislative and executive branches work together efficiently.
The people of Nigeria have high hopes for you, and only a cooperative effort between the legislative and executive branches will allow them to be realised.
“As President of the Senate and chairman of the National Assembly, you have the knowledge, experience, and what it takes for the two arms of government to work in harmony for the peace and development of our country.”
Earlier, the Senate President said he was glad to pay his respects to the APC national chairman and that “Sallah is a period to exchange love which is what Islam enjoins us to do.”
He praised the party chairman, saying that he is an honest man who drove the successful new zoning arrangements in the National Assembly.
We’ve come to honour a man of honour and offer Sallah respects. To accord deference to those who deserve it. We’d like to express our gratitude to you on behalf of the party’s executive committee and the National Working Committee, NWC, for all your hard work in helping us elect new leaders to the National Assembly.
We give thanks to the Almighty Allah for preserving your life, and we ask that He continue to bless you with good health so that you may continue to aid in the growth of the country’s youth.
As I’ve been saying, the 10th National Assembly will do everything it can to help the administration of President Bola Tinubu. In the interest of national peace, unity, and development, we shall enact laws to support the Renewed Hope programme of this administration, Akpabio remarked.
