The Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) has declared the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of all 25 chairmanship positions in Saturday’s local government elections.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Operations, Barr. Mohammed Liman, and made available to journalists on Monday.
Liman stated that all Returning Officers had concluded the collation and declaration of results in line with the state’s electoral laws and operational guidelines.

“After a thorough review, the Commission ratified the results, confirming the election of candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in all chairmanship positions,” he said.
According to him, some of the elected chairmen include Dr. Mustapha M. Jibrin (Chanchaga), Usman Manko Mohammad (Bida), and Sayuti Ibrahim Halilu (Agaie), among others.
Liman further revealed that, in addition to the 25 chairmanship victories, the APC also won 271 out of 274 councillorship seats across the state.
He disclosed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured only two councillorship seats — one each in Tafa and Rafi Local Government Areas.
The Commission congratulated all elected officials and urged them to uphold transparency, accountability, and dedication to service in the administration of their respective councils.
It also announced that Certificates of Return would soon be presented to the winners, with details of the presentation to be communicated to stakeholders in due course.
NSIEC commended security agencies, observers, political parties, the media, and the electorate for their cooperation in ensuring a peaceful and credible election.
